“Ok being a transplant from EG, i recently had a discussion on where to finad a yummy bagel, a worthy bagel near me, in Ione...my sister in-law also a transplant here in Ione has been telling me about this Star donut place in Ione, just 5 min away...but I'm not a donut eater so I didn't check it out. Recently, I noticed the sign says bagels and croissants both of which i do love, so this morning after checking out a jazzercize class, I had my hubby stop and we went inside. He chose his usual everything bagel, I selected the cheddar bagel and we came home. He toasted them up, and made yummy breakfast sandwiches and as I took my first bite, I was pleasantly surprised how fluffy and soft yet toasty the bagel was, omg, I think I'm in bagel heaven 😋 the croissants also looked ahhhmazingly delish, fresh and fluffy and yes, although I don't really partake in the donut, they looked really fresh and just as yummilicious as well. I love living in Ione, best decision we ever made and discovering new places that are very well deserving of 5 stars with great customer service too!😊”

The man who owns and runs the place is very kind and values his customers, even remembering their orders and thinking of his regulars in getting ingredients that he loves too. Thought goes into the food, and you can tell. A woman there chatted with us and suggested trying the sandwiches, and they were delicious! Chicken was seasoned perfectly, the macaroni was cheesy and home made, even the cheese fries were better than any average fast food chain. This also came with corn bread, the best I’ve had. For dessert I had their chocolate cake. It wasn’t too sweet where you couldn’t eat it. It was perfectly sweetened! The cake itself was very moist, light and chocolatey. The icing was a perfect amount to compliment the cake and not be over bearing. Together it was smooth, sweet and moist. The service was quick and friendly. They gave me an item for free and I genuinely felt welcomed and honored for choosing them. 100% recommend, can’t wait to try more”

“Walked in and the atmosphere was cozy. Was greeted by the young lady quickly and she was generous in taking and repeating my order back to me. The dining area was clean and there were other patrons drinking coffee and chatting along. The donuts were darn near perfect. I even ordered a fritter and muffin which was packaged all into the same box. Ever so convienant and yummy, I know I will be returning soon. “Update Nov 14th: My my my, the cinnamon roll is the best I've ever had. The filling is great, although I would add raisins for an option. The cinnamon is pleasant and doesn't overpower the roll. It's soft and flaky along with great icing, nit to mention the size and price. Bismark donut was soft, and the filling was just right along with the chocolate. I just wish they had vanilla as well. You can't go wrong with any of their parties as they are delightful and delicious too. Will let you know about the carrot cake soon. Lordy lordy, it took me too long to stop. Don't do what I did and get your butt in there, people. Wish I had more time to visit as I stopped in going to work. Choices, choices, and way too many. I even ordered one more pastry after checking out, ha ha. So my downfalls today were carrot cake slices, Bismark donuts, king Carmel roll, and my favorite yummy 😋 Big Cinnamon roll. There is so much more to choose from Danish, cookies, donuts, and donut holes from my quick glance only. Didn't have takeout menus, but you can view it online.
