“There are so many personal memorials at this cemetery. People leave flowers, but also personal mementos. Many of the inscriptions describe a love between people, which truly is a reminder of what is important. We may spend our lives in many pursuits, but in the end, what matters is our relationships The cemetery is on a hill and has many beautiful shade trees.”

“Mickey the FHD he was awesome, very attentive, patient and kind. My brother that passed, his name was Mickey as well. God/Universe sent me to the right place. THE ENTIRE STAFF was great. The service was beautiful, the building was well kept. He referred me to a florist, to a photographer etc etc etc. It was a one stop shop. He explained everything to me so clear and straight. I will use this chapel till the end of time.”

“Illinois is not usually thought of by most as mining country, but some of the most important events in the history of miners in the U.S. took place in Illinois. From the Battle of Virden, to the Centralia Mine disaster, the struggles and tragedies of Illinois miners are many. Some of that is captured in this solemn location, which features a moment at the grave of American labor activist, "Mother Jones".”

“This is an awesome cemetery even though there is no confederate treasure buried there! This is a special place for me where I reflect upon my life as well as the others before me! God has bestowed this special place for us, all to share and experience, the beauty and nature of his hand especially the majestic "talking beech trees" of years past! Look closely and they will come alive! But you have to believe!”

“Hunt Memorials has been a blessing to work with! Their grace and understanding when we wanted to make many tweaks to the design was amazing and we came away with the most beautiful memorial. Trent was an absolute rockstar and how he helped us through the whole process was just outstanding. The reality is, no one really wants to be in the market for this product but we will all face it someday. To have a family owned and operated business of people who truly care and understand how difficult a season you are walking through is wonderful. So very grateful for everyone at Hunt Memorials. I would recommend them to anyone!”

“Wonderful cemetery. Well maintained. Well laid out. The Russian area is exceptionally nice. Although I do appreciate the sculptural beauty of large tombstones, I am impressed by a congregation that has decided to all have flat grave markers. Tombstones are expensive, and they have made the decision to be more egalitarian and inclusive in their modest memorials.”

“My mother recently passed and a big shout out to the cemetery board on overall maintenance as it has been many years since I was last there. Joyce was extremely helpful in getting information and recommended the new pavilion for the grave side service. It kept everyone in a comfortable shaded area and allowed everyone to sit and be comfortable. I would recommend using this in lieu of standing around the grave.”

“Madison met me with a warm smile and kind voice when I came to Covington Funeral Home. She helped me with arrangements for my husband explaining everything in detail. They followed up with a call from their aftercare service. Kathy Mills was very pleasant providing information to finalize my husband’s affairs and a service to help me through my sorrow. Thank you Covington Funeral Home for your kindness during this sad time.”

“As you can see in my photo's, the ground is soft at this cemetery and sinks many stones below the thick grass surface. The caretakers mows and weed-wacks the area regularly, but lately more and more dead spots and weeds are showing up. The hours are fair, but limited. I think Sunday's are reserved for burials and private ceremony's though. As of 30 years ago, you could buy an affordable plot here, once. But there's probably a good chance it is full now or they require monthly payments for life.”
