“This is a fantastic library the librarian there was extremely helpful and very friendly. They will order books for you if you request and they come pretty fast 3-5days. We brought our daughter there and she had a great time. There is a section with lots of kids toys for them to play with and a very extensive children's book section.. they have nifty events for children to do during different days of the week.”

“What is there to say about VKC? It's like reviewing.. water. You use it all the time, don't think of it much, and probably take it for granted. But VKC deserves some credit for the many memories you'll develop here. Many liberal arts classes call VKC home. I took language classes (Chinese and Korean) here, as well as a history class and several others I'm not remembering right now. The building is unlocked at night, so you can come in after 7 or so to study. Plenty of other people have the same idea, though, especially around finals, so you may have to look elsewhere. There's always the library. You can also book rooms here for student organizations; it's a popular location given the availability of rooms and the proximity to freshman dorms. Somewhere in the late 2000s or early 2010s they upgraded the furniture to comfortable, ergonomic chairs and clean white desks. They're very comfortable. Unfortunately, many of the rooms aren't large enough to accommodate the furniture. VKC was built when USC had far fewer students and, let's be honest, obesity has increased quite a bit since then. The facilities aren't exactly spectacular. The building feels worn-out, and the arches dated. The globe tower is a symbol of USC, though, and it's a nice way to get your bearings when you're lost in your first days of freshman year. Even if you're studying engineering, you'll probably spend time here working on your General Education requirements. You might as well enjoy it.”

“This is a beautiful building. Staff is very kind and it is clean and quite. The children's section has a vast selection toys for the kids to play with as well as pictures to color. I noticed four or six computers upstairs for studying. Not sure about the first floor, though. Overall, great time here picking out a few books to read to my little one.”

“We visited for a service project, and spent some time helping to do some lawnscaping. While doing it, we had the chance to look around the grounds, and it is a beautiful place! There is a muesuem, with some cool maps and a number of interesting things to look at. It is the best place that I've seen to learn about the history of Oakland County. I have to think, with all this virtual school and school from home, that this would be an outstanding place to take the kids for half a day and learn about our past.”

There are many events that our family enjoys, and the summer reading program is one of our favorites. My school aged kids are always motivated to read over the summer, and I know a big part of that is sharing their accomplishments with the staff. I'm looking forward to returning after the holidays to get library cards for the whole family. (I donated a dollar anyway) The visitors of the library are all my neighbors and community and it's like the Cheers of local libraries!”

I went in with my husband to pick something up that he had ordered and I was thinking we would just be in and out, but then I got sucked into the library goodness. I enjoy that it isn’t a very large library. I ended up checking out two books that will be very helpful in future parenting and homeschooling.
