“My daughter and I moved here two months ago from Houston. She absolutely loves this school so much and the staff is awesome. Since we walked in three weeks after the school year had started, they've welcomed us with open arms and have made my daughter feel secure and comfortable with the new transition. I really appreciated that since this was her third school and she hadn't adjusted well to the previous ones. She comes home everyday excited to tell me about her day. Her favorite thing about the school is when she arrives and the staff plays music and gets the kids excited to learn and they can dance early in the morning in the gym.”

“I took the adult dinghy class last Saturday and had a really good experience. My instructor, Taylor, was extremely patient and encouraging. Her explanations and instructions were very clear and understandable, and I feel like I learned a lot just in this one session. It is beautiful in the area in which they sail, and it didn't hurt that it was a beautiful day.”

“In the past 6 years, Sem Elementary has not been without it's problems. Over all, with the funding they're given and the restrictions they have to work within I believe they do a wonderful job. The teachers we have had in our years at Sem have been caring, dedicated, and well-intentioned. The principals and specials staff have come and gone, and we have enjoyed working with them all. My children have always felt safe and supported in their classrooms, and I have felt validated and supported in ARD meetings and parent/teacher conferences. The receptionist at the front office is a bit gruff, but she gets the job done, ha! My main concern with Sem is the high turnover in teaching staff every year. I hope to see it improve, as we have several more years to invest there. p.s. I think some of the previous commenters have actually been children upset about homework - so keep that in mind if you're looking at sending your kids to this school.”

“My daughter started taking lessons from Val when she was 9 years old. Val has been an inspiration for her to stick to piano and made tremendous progress. She started competing and won many local, national and international major competitions starting at age 10. Now she's in high school and we have moved out of state. Val has been teaching her through Zoom lessons and in person whenever we return LA. Val sets goals for his students and pushes them to achieve their highest potential. He is very dedicated and always does what's best for his students. Outside his teaching he has been a great mentor to my daughter for goal settings in general. We can't thank him enough for being the ideal teacher for our daughter. We highly recommend him to anyone who wants to pursue music education.”

“Updating my original review: I wrote my original review below when my daughter was about 18 months old. She’s 4.5 now and still at Magic Carpet and I’m struggling so hard that the time is approaching where she will need to fly the nest to Kindergarten. What I said below rings true and then some. Leigh and David have been such instrumental figures in my daughter’s life and her education. She will leave Magic Carpet with huge shoes for any teacher to fill. An impossible task I’m sure and I wish she could stay forever. She’s fully ready for school thanks to Leigh. I’m just not ready for her to leave. The good part is, though, we have a 20 month old son who has also been so loved by Leigh and David at Magic Carpet for the last 14 months so we get to see them every day for a little while longer. He’s so happy there. I’m so thankful to this family, they are our extended family at this point and we owe so much to them for enriching our kids (and our) lives!!! ————— Aw we can’t say enough good things about Miss Leigh and Magic Carpet Daycare. Our daughter has been going there since January and we were so hesitant about starting daycare for her during a time of some pretty intense separation anxiety and never having been to a daycare before. Within a week she had totally settled in and now we struggle to get her to leave. It’s been the most wonderful next stage in her development and she lights up when we talk about daycare. She’s grown so much in her personality since attending and it’s been so wonderful to see. Miss Leigh is fabulous, we couldn’t have been more fortunate to find her. She loves our daughter so clearly and nurtures her growth so completely. I trust her implicitly and she’s amazing with all of the kids of all different ages. She had this thing nailed and I take my hat off to her for her ability to hold down routine and keep all the kids happy and entertained. Plus her family is incredible, her own kids interact with the daycare kids and parents like they are a part of the family and that’s exactly how it feels. Thanks again, Leigh and family. We’re thrilled that you’re a part of our lives.”
