Great store for a good selection of candles in various sizes and a wide range of good quality candle holders in a variety of styles. Also some vintage and retro. Essential oil burners and a wide selection of essential oils. Religious artefacts and a doll hospital. When in Amsterdam, this is a first shop to visit.
This was my absolute favorite store to shop in while we were in Amsterdam! So many different kinds of inventory, from I incense, candles and decor.
If I ever go back to Amsterdam this is my first stop for sure!
The Pontifax _ Kramer candle shop has been one of Reestraat's foremost attractions for half a century. Going into the shop is like stepping into another world. The front door is connected to an old-fashioned coil spring bell which produces a charming sound which echoes throughout the store. Delightful smells and fragrances exude from every corner. There is an abundance of candles and holders, in every shape and form imaginable. Many are intricate works of art and it's hard to imagine anyone lighting them. Incense sticks, fridge magnets, semi-precious stones, a large assortment of essential oils and everything needed to perform rituals are also on offer. The shop is also well-known for the Doll Doctor, who can repair and bring playthings back to life. The owners are happy to oblige with any questions.
Real old school poppendokter (doll fixer). They repair broken dolls a d teddy's by hand with real care. Because of this there can be quite a long wait time, although they do do emergency 'operations' if a child can't sleep without their fluffy friend.
They gave my 40 year old teddy bear back his sight after his eyes fell off. They even did it a bit quicker as I wanted to bring him travelling two weeks later
