Molen Van Sloten (1990) & Kuiperij Museum - Windmill

Visited the mill in early August, we are delighted to say how pleased we are to have had the opportunity and the pleasure to have been hosted by such enthusiastic team taking care of this treasure. We were given a truly comprehensive insight into how a mill works and how it has evolved through centuries. Knowing that my compatriots were the forerunners of this revolutionary machine makes me want to know more about it.
We even discovered what the origin of the name “Rembrandt “is and how this name is also associated with the mill in general.
We particularly thank our guide(although I rather call him the expert) for his comprehensive and well organized narrative on the subject.

Wonderful tour! Very interesting and informative. The trip out from central Amsterdam was well worth it. The area around the windmill is picturesque as well. Very glad we took the time to visit.

A wonderful experience. It is an engineering marvel to see and understand how windmills play a pivotal role in Holland's history. It is not too far from the tram stop. Would recommend for people to see a different side of Amsterdam.

The Molen Van Sloten windmill tour was incredibly interesting. It was amazing to see the great Dutch engineering from the inside. They had multiple windmill models and one where our tour guide demonstrated how the breaks work to stop the sails. Then we were able to go out on the deck and watch a Miller use the breaks so we could walk around and see the sails up close. As you walk up the stairs to each level of the windmill don't miss the representations of Rembrandt's artworks and a short film of windmill history. We had a great time. Plus, on our weekday visit there were no crowds.

This was one of my favorite things I did in Amsterdam. It’s a little outside of the city, but so worth it. We had the best tour guide, though I can’t remember his name. He was a volunteer. I learned so much about not only windmills, but history as well. Would definitely recommend!
