A great variety of food both sold on the boat and also at the stalls on the higher grounds. Most of the food are reasonably priced - compared to hatyai Town they are definitely cheaper here. There is a stall(one of the boats) that sells great beef stew soup. It's a huge portion for 40 baht. Soup is very flavourful with a tinge of lime. Highly recommended!
Please come as early as 4pm before the crowd starts!
Kind of a touristy market, and very popular, but still an enjoyable experience. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings only. Plenty of food of all types. The "floating" food sellers were mobbed, so unless you really feel the need to order from them, you can get similar food on land. They put on traditional dance exhibitions, which also get mobbed. There are the usual 5b public toilets, and Muslim prayer rooms as well. Easy ride from the center of Hat Yai. If you come from the south, you can't cross the river with your motorbike. Turn left into the temple about 100 meters south of the bridge. The attendant will collect 10b from you. Then you can walk across the river and enjoy!
It's out of the way and you will need to have your own transport, grab or use a tuktuk to get here but it was quite an atmosphere and an experience! Lots of lively music in the air and can be quite crowded but the queues move fast. Only open during the weekends, it's quite a popular spot for tourists and locals alike. Lots of halal food at the river for Muslims! Signs are in English as well, and most of the sellers can speak some Malay too. Beside the river there's also some stalls and more food as well. All in all, quite a fun experience and worth the journey here.
Was crowded but maybe because it was during holiday. Food was good and affordable but don't set your expectations too high. More seats and tables should be provided because people had to sit on the ground as all of the tables were occupied.
