Address: The St, High Easter, Chelmsford CM1 4QW, UK
“Very impressive large church and churchyard in the centre of High Easter, set behind the Punch Bowl restaurant, with period houses backing onto the churchyard. The tower dates from 1460, and is built of stone and flint with a band of chequered flintwork close to the base. There is a beautiful red brick porch dating from the early 16th century. The nave and chancel are older, dating to the 11th century; built of flints, boulders and, in some places, Roman tiles set in a herringbone pattern. Inside there are few monuments, Victorian stained glass; a very large organ which seems to fill about a third of the chancel. A very impressive village church in a beautiful setting.”
