Beautiful church lovely surroundings
Always a good place to visit.
St Mary's is a Grade II* listed church dating in parts to the 13th century, but subject to Victorian restoration, which makes the interior unremarkable. It's the setting makes this church and its surroundings worth a visit. The picturesque winding drive from the east passes large fishing lakes and a fishing lodge, with the church itself set in what was obviously a village, now no more. What else exists comprises farm buildings and a Grade II* listed 15th-century timber framed Marriage Feast Hall, a public hall previously a school and an almshouse.
This church has an interesting layout and is normally open for viewing.
