(March 11, 2018, 4:50 pm)For those who do not know the visible remains of the Abbey date back to 1178. National Lottery funding has enabled a community building to be established at the site's perimeter. The community building might look closed at weekends but actually contains a little vendor's stall or shop front serving teas, coffees and hot chocolate as well as some simple tuck shop style snacks. Toilet facilities to the side of the building are the best local authority maintained facilities I have ever used in my lifetime as a lifelong Londoner.
