Lovely day out- took the tour around the old Palace with an extremely knowledgeable tour guide who made it both educational and interesting. The gardens and main house were beautiful and very well kept. All staff members we met were very welcoming and friendly. Thank you for a lovely day!
Beautiful and well kept. Great Guides in the house who love to answer your questions and they certainly know their history. Decent food in the cafe/restaurant too.
I stepped in with really high expectations but it totally surpassed them. Even if reformed in Victorian times the first room is spectacular. Queen Elizabeth I rainbow portrait is the highlight of a really good art collection. One of the guides told me the nearly untouched Jacobean interiors survived due to the lack of funds to revamp the place in the XVIII by the likes of Robert Adam or William Kent (although there's a chair by the latter). I absolutely loved the visit and the park and gardens are very beautiful.
Fascinating place. Would make a great film set for a costume drama. Lots of beautiful & varied artifacts. Great historical interest. Guides friendly & informative. Beautiful grounds with different walks in surrounding wooded area. Ticket covers a period of time where you can go back and go on the walks.
We went today with our 2 year old and 3 week old. Our 2 year old loved going round the farm - plenty to see and lots of space to run around. There's a train there too and a tractor side which she loved. There's a play park there but we didn't have enough time to go there this morning. We had a little lunch in the deli and the grounds are just beautiful. There's so much more to do there but we only spent the morning there.
