I cannot recommend Shaun at Response Diagnostics enough. My 1993 VW Transporter 2.5 petrol had been running badly for 3 years. Various garages had looked at it, thrown a load of parts at it with no success and then returned it to me still not working with various guesses as to what was wrong and of course a big bill. A VW main dealer was one of them that failed and they even had all the diagnostic equipment from the period of this old van!
I took it to Shaun and he took a systematic approach to diagnosing the fault, testing in turn every sensor and associated wiring and also mechanical items like verifying the timing belt was correctly fitted and the vacuum system parts were functioning correctly. He doesn't guess at anything and had all the equipment necessary to diagnose a faulty MAP sensor on the ECU which was repaired.
I've learnt from this experience that all garages have diagnostic equipment but not too many of them know how to interpret what it's trying to tell them. My old van wasn't exactly straight forward in that regard as the results from the diagnostics machine had to be converted into meaningful data. Shaun understands this. He understands engines, the mechanical, electrical and management sides and how they all relate. Phone him for a chat!
