Kid friendly. Love floating with the stream of the water. Hiking trails and bike trails were a good length. Train ride could have been longer but for $1 it was cool. The bigger fish were picky eaters.
Let me just say, it's so sad to hear this place lost government funding I'm sure because of it's confederate roots. Once I heard that I was HAPPY to pay to enter. This park was an absolute treasure and i very much enjoyed viewing and walking around all the old confederate iron buildings etc. I take my southern roots seriously and this is what it's all about. Thank you to everyone who works here and helps keep this place alive. So many people enjoying RV camping here made me very happy. 👌🏻
Tannehill is a lovely state park that I have been visiting for over 5 years. The cost of a yearly pass is $50 and that is an excellent deal. You only have to visit 10 times to break even and if you are like me, you'll easily pass the 10 visit mark. This park has excellent mountain biking trails, hiking trails, and well preserved historical structures. You can also fish, and they have multiple cabins and campsites you can stay in for reasonable rates. I highly recommend supporting this state park (as well as any others) because Alabama has immense amounts of natural beauty and it is in our best interest to preserve it.
Regularly crowded, but chock full of family fun!
Great place to stay or just visit.
