We have had several wonderful experiences at Tier 1! All our critters are so happy to be taken care of by their staff. Everyone is friendly and helpful!

My Russian Blue cat, Grimm, rapidly developed a very severe liver and kidney infection. Unfortunately, by the time we realized the existence & severity of the condition, it was too late.
When we took Grimm to Tier 1, we were given the prognosis and the odds were very low that she would make a recovery. We loved her very much and did not want to drag out a process that wouldn’t likely succeed. So, we chose euthanasia. I have never had to go through the process before. Tier 1 vets explained the process, gave us a breakdown of costs, and allowed us to sit in the room with Grimm as long as we wanted in order to say our goodbyes. We never felt rushed, which was appreciated. We chose to stay with her during the process, which was painless. I’m glad we chose this option. She went out happy and pain free wrapped in a blanket in our arms, which was best. We miss her but are glad that she did not suffer. We chose to bury her under a tree with a good view on our property. The night we buried her, the Northern Lights came out for just 10 minutes. I like to think that was Grimm saying goodbye. We miss you, Grimm.

~Thank you to the whole team at Tier 1 who signed a sympathy card. That was very thoughtful.

We consistently have positive interactions and results from Tier 1 for both our dog (Kiska) and our cat (Trip). And are very grateful for the services they’ve provided and the help we’ve needed over the years.

When we decided to change our veterinary provider in 2021, we went to Tier 1. We enrolled our puppy, Kiska, in their puppy package, and have since made regularly scheduled appointments, annual exams and vaccines, bloodwork, spay/neuter, teeth cleaning, surgeries and walk-in appointments.

We live in Anchorage, and drive out for Tier 1 because it's reputable, trustworthy and knowledgeable. When we make an appointment, we schedule in advance and go in with the respect and understanding that if there’s an emergent case that should take priority, we wait our turn. I would say that only once out of many scheduled appointments, I had to wait an hour past the expected appointment time. It was explained to me that a dog needed emergency surgery and we understood. There’s a huge difference between waiting longer for a check-up (Which we were) and waiting for emergency surgery. And we appreciate that they allow those that need care most to go first. Kiska loves their park, and we went out and used it while waiting.

We have frequently also used their walk-in services. Each time, we left feeling that it was worth the wait and that we were grateful to have what we needed to care for our pets. The longest walk-in wait time was 3 hours, and the other times were under 90 minutes. I feel that this is an excellent wait time because we didn’t have a scheduled appointment.

When we adopted a 5 year old cat, Trip, in 2023, we were fortunate that he was previously cared for at Tier 1 and they were about to update his medical records. Through the adoption agency they had him current with his vaccinations. At his first checkup appointment, they noticed that Trip
had tartar on his teeth that needed to be cleaned. We made the appointment on their recommendation and his teeth are so much healthier. Trip was a cat that had his original owner pass on and then struggled to find a home. He’d been repeatedly fostered and surrendered, and been available for adoption for a long time. At the drop off for his dental appointment, he became very scared and urinated on himself. The staff were so kind and understanding. They bathed him, took care of him, and told us what a good boy he was while he went through his appointment.

We will continue to use Tier 1 and can only say positive things about them and highly recommend them. Thank you for all that you do for Kiska and Trip.
