The people he are so kind. Donating saves lives and everyone here knows it. Come help make the world a better place. ❤
I've been donating at this location for 15+ years and have always had professional and friendly interactions with staff! They really are terrific and don't get enough credit for making us doners feel comfortable and very much appreciated!
People don't realize how critical blood donation is to the health industry as it is the one of the few things that cannot be replicated synthetically, has a shelf life, and must match perfectly to the recipient.
When people have the misfortune to need blood for themself or a family member, that's when the awareness changes. Some might even participate in a blood drive for someone they know, but there are soooooo many people in need that we don't know... just think about it.
There's a 3-ring binder in the waiting area at this location I like to browse through while I'm eating cookies and rehydrating during my 15-minute wait between my donation and leaving (required to ensure each doner is feeling well after every donation). In this binder are real stories of blood donation recipients for every kind of need, emergencies from accidents, recovering from various cancer, from the very old to the very young, which further affirm my commitment to donate even if it's just the minimum of three times per year.
No, I don't work for Vitalant (still strange using this new name after so many years), I had a mother who donated and had retired from Cigna as a Lab/X-Ray Tech, drawing blood from people every day of her working life. She saw first-hand the very real need for blood donation and passed on that gift of awareness to me and many others, always remaining respectful that it is always a choice to donate, never pressuring a single person... even me. I think that's why I enjoy donating regularly in homage to a wonderful, giving person it's my hope to be even half as wonderful as she was.
The photo is of an award she recieved in 1999 commemorating her donating 10 gallons which she displayed on her dresser. She continued donating until she passed years later and I know the night she received this award at the UBS doner celebration dinner was an incredible highlight for her, but she would have donated just because it was a simple way she could help others.
I love you, Mom, and still miss you every day. ❤
(Sorry, didn't mean to get so mushy...)
Very friendly and proffesional staff.
This place is great and very clean with super friendly staff. I go every week to donate whatever I'm eligible for. I read some other comments about the facility appearing open when they are suppose to be on break. That only means they are not STARTING any donation processes but still must finish with the people who have been there for an hour donating. So please don't hate on the nice people that work there, the people inside during that time are spending their lunch hour working while the others get a chance to eat.
