“Let me start by saying that haters will be haters and regardless of the truth they will always find a way to make themselves look and feel better by making others look bad. They will also throw others under the bus to save themselves. Maryland Gardens is under fairly new leadership and the current DON has only been there a few months. I think it's safe to say that she has inherited a mess that cannot be fixed overnight. However, it can and will be fixed by removing the bad seeds before they continue to spread their negative attitudes and resistance to change. Change was definitely needed at Maryland Gardens. As I read some of these reviews, I know many are not truthful and are written by disgruntled current/former employees. Just to address a few: Sunny Arizona - falls are not acceptable or tolerated by the DON or administrator and if a fall does occur in front of her or not it is immediately addressed! Staff are continuously educated on how to be more proactive and prevent falls from occurring. Ebony Hudson - Maryland Gardens wasn't under great leadership before the current administrator or DON arrived but it is now. I'm sorry you can't handle the truth. I'm sure it was difficult for you to now be expected to do your job correctly - what a concept! Shelly Hicks - you were told that "a resident beat another resident and when it was reported to vicki and katie they told the nurse not to write it up" - seriously?? Based on your comment you weren't there and are relying on what someone else told you - let me guess they don't like the current leadership either? I have witnessed an incident where a resident attacked another resident. The DON responded immediately and assisted staff to get the situation under control and the residents evaluated for any injuries. All policies and procedures were followed in a timely manner and the appropriate people/agencies were notified. The police showed up shortly after the incident to take police reports. Change was needed and change for the better is what Maryland Gardens is getting. If you can't handle being expected to do your job correctly or being disciplined when you don't....then leave - go be lazy and uncaring somewhere else because the residents deserve better. Katie and Vicki are the breath of fresh air this place desperately needed. They care about their residents and their staff providing the best care. Things won't always be perfect and there will always be bumps in the road but give them a chance.”
