Really beautiful hike! If you can get up early, do it. The sunrise at the peak was absolutely to die for. It's not the easiest hike... so come prepared. I'm talking tons of water, comfy shoes, a headlamp if you start really early. But it is so worth it!! I use the all trails app and it seems pretty up to date so I would recommend taking a look at that map and screenshot it on your phone, just so you know what trail to take and when to turn for the peak. There are multiple trails and stuff around this area it seems like. It's not supper easy to get lost though, the desert helps with that because you're not surrounded by tall trees or anything. It's pretty clear the direction you need to go the whole time. Hope this helps! Happy hiking 😊
It’s an incredible place, it has an amazing view. There are a lot of signs in the road so you don’t get lost. It wasn’t that hard, it was my first time hiking but I do exercise frequently so… just keep that in mind. A bottle of water and a snack in case you need more energy.
A good hike specially now winter time, u can choose from an hour to 4 hours whole loop just bring lots of water specially if hiking with your pets (on leash)... it's a combination views of houses, mountains and the highway..its pretty busy (sunday) we expected plus lots from the subdivision went to hike all the time, u can see a hot air balloon too** we got there around 4pm till sunset.. its a beginner hike and worth btw :)
A great neighborhood trail system for hiking or MTB. Trail difficulty is blue or green depending on the route taken. Not so busy as compared to other trail systems in town. New restroom facilities.
Great trailhead! Lots of parking as well and different trails to take. Can't wait to go back again.

From the Desert Vista Trailhead in north Phoenix, the Hawk's Nest Trail unlocks this corner of the Sonoran Preserve. Make the short (0.4 mile) climb to a small saddle where Dixie Mountain Loop fans out in both directions. According to the website, going counterclockwise softens the ascents so that's what I do. But I'm the only one.
