I have been a Blood Systems / United Blood Services donor since 1999. The company is quality driven and has patient care at the center of its mission. It is true that if they feel that a product will go to waste because it is the wrong type or they already have too many of that type then they will not collect it on purpose. For instance, they don't purposely collect type AB red blood cells because only type AB people can receive them and they almost always go to waste.
