I can not ever imagine having a baby with out Jennifer there to journey with me. I have had 1 hospital birth and after being disappointed with my experience I knew I needed something more than a hospital and doctor could provide me with.  I am so grateful that I found her and had 2 beautiful home births where I was Safe, Supported, Informed, Trusted, and Loved. Ina May says "If a women doesn't look like a goddess during labor, then someone isn't treating her right." This is how she made me feel. It has been such an amazing journey with her guidance. - Amanda

With my first birth, I interviewed a few other midwifes, all of which were very well qualified but I didn’t feel like any of them were “the one”. And then there was Jen. I literally felt like it was love at first sight. What I believe to have sealed the deal was her compassionate, respectful, gentle, warm and empowering demeanor.

Throughout my prenatal visits, my baby and I were impeccably cared for with dignity and love. Something that stood out to me was how she would speak TO my baby, not merely about her. She always warmed her hands and used an amazingly delicious oil on my belly while she spoke with genuine affection. Whoa!

I also appreciate how thorough our visits were. She not only cared about the physical aspects of pregnancy, she also questioned how I was feeling emotionally, spiritually, and even discussed the subconscious underpinnings of a dream I had. She even offered additional hypnotherapy for me. I feel like the knowledge she imparted was unbiased, thorough, and almost sacred in the way that our ancestors before us would have prepared for birth. *cue joyful tears

On the day of our birth, everything unfolded beautifully and also quicker than expected. I believe this to be, in large part, due to the fact that I felt so safe, so loved, and so supported. Jen and her attendants were noninvasive, only occasionally checking baby’s heart and my blood pressure but never performing internal exams to determine dilation. They spoke gently and softly and just let me do my thing! She has shown me how to harness my own power.

Needless to say, the next time I conceived, Jen was the first person I called. At this point Jen had grown so much in her professional endeavors and experience; supporting pregnant teens, facilitating women’s circles to share positive birth stories, leading women’s retreats, and even working on a study examining the effects of mindfulness and meditation on pregnant mamas and their babies. So very cool! This experience was super helpful during my second pregnancy as I had an ultrasound at 20 weeks where it was revealed that my placenta implanted rather close to my cervix but it wouldn’t be until further along where we could determine if it was placenta previa. I was struck with fear immediately as I realized that in that situation, it would be an automatic cesarían. Jen encouraged me to use visualizations to imagine my uterus growing and the placenta moving away from my cervix. This resulted in a more confident and optimistic outlook. Jen also leant me a book about a Mama bear birthing her baby bear that I read with my daughter to help prepare her for the birth.. When the day finally came, Jen was incredibly intuitive and at one point, decided to sit on the patio with her assistants to give me the space to dive deeply into myself. Very quickly after that, my surges became more intense and I decided to hop in the tub to birth my beautiful baby boy. Jen was gentle and caring as she examined both myself and my son. She waited until we were ready to cut the umbilical cord and weigh him, both of which she guided my husband in performing. A few weeks postpartum, my son had a lip and tongue tie procedure which unfortunately lead to a traumatic hospital visit. While at the hospital, I called Jen and she spoke to me calmly, sharing unbiased information about the risks and benefits of the procedures that were being presented to us. Although I remember thinking that I wished she would just tell me what the right thing to do was, she never tried to sway my decision. After that experience, she came to my home, brought me a healthy lunch, and sat with me so I could process the event. Every word she speaks is laced with love. In fact, I admire her so much that when I’m in a difficult situation, I often ask myself, “what would Jen do?” These are some brief examples of the wonderful care she has provided for our family. Without hesitation, I would recommend her services to any and all healthy pregnant mamas. The love and respect that I have for this woman is immense, ineffable.

Jen was incredibly passionate, intuitive and honest in helping me birth two of my boys. My husband and I felt completely safe and trusted her completely through the process. She guided us, but let us have our own experience, being completely respectful and supportive in the background. I had some minor complications after both of those births - the first one she called a fellow midwife for support because she didn't feel she had the appropriate experience to repair a significant tear that occurred after a very hard and fast delivery. The second birth, I experienced some complications after and she monitored me so closely through the day and relied on experience and proper medication to assist me in recovering safely in my home. She spent almost 18 hours at our home caring for us and her assistant went above and beyond in cooking me an iron-rich meal late into the evening. At no time did we feel unsafe, even though she informed us there was a possibility we would need to transfer to the hospital. She is wise, loving, compassionate and an incredible midwife and I would confidently recommend her to any of my closest friends or family. And without any doubt, if there were a possibility of having another baby, she would be the first person we would call. Her knowing, loving and gentle energy is such a blessing to so many.

I had the best birth experience thanks to Jen! She was open to all my ideas for my birth plan and had all the knowledge to help me make decisions that were best for me and my baby. She was loving, caring, supportive, and everything else you would want in a midwife! She gave me the space to create the birth I had envisioned and I am beyond grateful for everything she did for me and my family! I know she has a special place in her heart for every family she works with! ❤❤❤ she is truly amazing!

As a midwife, I have had the privilege of working alongside Jen in a variety of birth experiences over several years. She is deeply intuitive, compassionate, and kind. In emergent situations she acts with decisive, calm confidence. I trust her deeply.
