Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

We were able to go on a Saturday in March when they stay open until 9pm. Arrived around 4pm, saw maybe half of what there is before sunset and ate some sandwiches at the car, and went back in for sunset (gorgeous!). It was so lovely in twilight. We also brought blacklights to find scorpions in the dark! We found some!! We're from Michigan and this was such a wonderful overview of desert life all in one place. When we left, we pulled off at one of the many turnouts, shut off the car and just enjoyed the amazing starry sky until we were satisfied.

Everyone in Tucson should come and visit us this place. It is a fantastic experience for everyone. If it is summer be aware that most of the museum is outside. Bring water, hat and comfortable shoes. Extremely educational and interactive. I spent the entire day here. They going to start staying open late to enjoy the magnificent sunsets. This is the perfect place to witness the earth being painted before your eyes. Enjoy!!

Had a really great time this afternoon. I love the desert loop, I get to walk out in nature before returning to the paved paths my family prefers. A win-win. It's a great place to see, whether or not you live in Tucson. It's not solely a tourist destination. I only rated 4 stars because the price is steep. Maybe consider age, residency, etc. My 3 year old is too young to absorb the experience the way we do. I was surprised we had to pay that much for him. I'm sure the money is all for a good cause and as an animal lover, I'd rather my money goes here but at these prices I think I'll only visit once a year.

The Arizona- Sonora Desert Museum is a great place for adults alone or entire families to visit. There is something for everyone. Wide open Desert spaces, enclosed museum exhibits, aquariums, and natural animal habitats; everything is there. Also includes a nice gift shop, snack bars and restaurants. Also a great long hike through the desert if that's what you want. My wife and I will be back.

There are so many good things I can say about this place. Aesthetically it is beautiful and a great place to venture alone or with the family. Full of excitement & calm.

More importantly I’ve gotten to see how much the staff truly loves and cares for the animals. The facility is designed in a way that creates environments like the animals would experience in nature, all while providing them with enrichment to keep them mentally and physically healthy.
