Apache Junction Skatepark

Online it said the park was open at 7:00. When I got there it was locked and the sign said it opened at 8:00. I had fun at the park but there were cracks at inconvenient places.

Park is kept clean lights do shut off at 9pm or a few minutes before. Friendly people kids of all ages skating or on scooters. Park kids took well to my son with Autism even showing him tricks. Park Rangers are in and out checking on things often and AJ Police drive thru often to. Wish we could get some bleachers to watch from outside.

Okay I actually love this place, but it’s not perfect. I’ve been to almost every single skate park in Phoenix and this one is in my top 3.

The good:

It’s built specifically for skateboarding so most skaters can hit about almost every angle in the park

The ramps are the perfect size for launching. Not too big but enough to shred the gnar

Easy parking

The bad:

The rails suck, there’s one decent one.

No stair sets.

It’s also missing a decent ledge or drop. I love tall ledges to drop from. They have zero. They have some boxes instead which doesn’t count.

Watch out for the kids on scooters because they don’t pay attention to jack. I’ve had to bail hard a couple times because kids lack any sense of self awareness and the parents could care less.

Verdict:

Amazing ramps. Good bowl to drop in on. Good size, decent flatland spots, can get a little crowded. If you are looking for a park to hit up give this one a real chance.
