A great Arizona State Park! It's clean and quiet. Amazing sunsets and moon rises. If you are looking for a little isolated camping experience Picacho Peak will accommodate you. Try to avoid visiting during the monsoon season. Other than that, I highly recommend that at least once in your lifetime you visit Picacho Peak State Park.
This is a hidden gem. Very rare to find electric hook up with waste dump available at State Park. Spot was private and so very beautiful and Serene. We were surrounded by exotic cactus and the bathroom was clean, heated and easily accessible. Did not make reservation and we're still able to easily get a spot and pay with their instructions at the entrance. There is also an RV that stays there on site to help if needed which we didn't need to utilize. Wish we had stayed longer, wonderful for star gazing.
Loved camping here in our 5th wheel. You do need to bring in your own water as there are no water hookups or water fill spigots as their well is low. Bathrooms & showers are nice & clean. Great spacing between sites. We love hiking the trails here too!
I'm so in love with this park!! Hiking all the trails never gets old. I would post lovely vistas and quirky cacti, but I dropped my phone!!! Yep. Off the side of a massive rock face near the peak. Good job! Anyway the campground is so pleasent and peaceful, nothing beats the night sky views.
Very scenic but main trail is very difficult.
