Great hike. Lots of trails. Love that it’s in my backyard! Wish they would put a few more trails in. Definitely potential for more! Buy a pass, clean up after your dogs and yourself. Enjoy the views!
Great hike definitely more on the moderate to hard side I would say in some spots but worth it once you get to the top
Just got done with the hike with my wife. What a fantastic beautiful morning for a hike. And it is a hike. Pretty steep and rocky in areas. We both had running shoes on and could have used something more for actual hiking. Getting up wasn't too bad, but getting down was a bit tricky. We hiked about a 1/2 hour from the trailhead, may it to the top with wonder views. Took out time coming down, which took about 30 mins as well. Loved the natural scenery. The trail while being very rugged was a lot of fun, and so much better than a groomed/paved trail. Because it's early January the weather was absolutely wonderful all morning long.
Parking is Easy Peasy! $7 to park. I paid with cash. Unsure if they take credit cards.
Better arrive before noon to avoid the crowds and get the trail to yourself
Goldmine Trail is the most challenging and can be completed in an 1.5 hours. Hiked with my 11 year old and jogged some parts of the trail then walked. Goldmine is a challenge, take seriously.
Hiked Goldmine two days in a row, Dec 31 and Jan 1 it was chilly I think the 50’s. Dress appropriately. The trail is steep at the last .5 miles but worth the climb. Take your time and know there are loose rocks and unstable areas at the end of the trail.
The view is worth the hike!
You will get a great workout in!
Bring water and chapstick the cold air can chai your lips a. There are places to rest and two benches on the trail. Make sure to wear shoes with grip or hiking boots for the terrain.
Other than being out of shape, the views were pretty cool. The folks hiking the trial were the most friendly in Arizona.
