Lake Chabot is a great place to go for a walk, hike, a bike ride or boat ride, or to just have a picnic/party. Plenty of trails along the main path to explore, and boats of different capacities to rent and take out around the lake. Open all year
Went here a bunch growing up and still come here as an adult.
Nice outdoor BBQ spot...
Great picnic date spot...
The hiking trail around the lake is a bit under 10 miles...The trail is really good exercise...
Visited last weekend with my dogs and was surprised to find out the lake is still testing positive for blue-green algae. So had a bit of a scare around that but it was really my fault for not believing the many signs that warned of it. Blue-green algae in January? Yes. Believe it people. My dogs are fine, and I am wiser.
We rented a paddle boat. $38 for 2 hours, $44 for 3-4 hrs. It was a blast! Would highly recommend it. Take sunglasses because the sun is bright. Also, it does get pretty hot out there, there wasn't much of a breeze when we went middle of Jan so dress accordingly. Cover your skin but you don't need too many layers
I went running here with one of my best friend two weeks ago and this place makes me feel appreciative of all the regional parks we have in the Bay Area. Lake Chabot Park was so quiet and peaceful even though it gets a lot of visitors. The staff here do a great job keeping this place clean. There is ample parking inside and outside.
I can't wait to come back and take a different route to run.
