It's a comfortable, charming little hole-in-the-wall. The food is awesome; it's beautifully spiced and carefully prepared. They can get crazy busy - it's a sign of their popularity and quality. But it can lead to long waits. For me, it's worth it. You'll have to decide for yourself.
This is one of the finest places in the bay when it comes to Afghan food. Go for the triple kebab plate and try out their bolani, while you’re at it. I visit this place often and experience long waiting time almost every time but the food is worth the wait. I would recommend ordering ahead of time, especially if it’s a takeout.
Today, while taking pictures of the outdoor seating, I had a wonderful conversation with the owner's beautiful daughter Jamilla. She shared how her Dad started out in NYC with a deli, then a hot dog stand. This was thrilling for me since I grew up in NYC. Their family has several restaurants throughout the SF Bay Area. Two neighboring locations on Fremont Blvd and are often confused in their reviews and hours.
Turns out, it depends on how your Google map filters are setup, as to if you see one or both. The menu is at the more extensive than the "original", take-out location, as you would expect.
So, check your filters: you may want to dine-in, sit outside, or maybe you don't have cash. Come to the restaurant! In either case, you will experience authentic Afghan cuisine, large portions, and a wonderful ambiance.
Great portions, food is absolutely delicious! Probably the best I've had. Service was amazing, servers are nice. Their yogurt and doogh however wasn't good at all.
