“First experience with Ethiopian foods!! So light, healthy, and fresh, everything tasted homemade and fluffy but also crisp and natural, left a great taste in the mouth and a weightlessly bouncy belly, the tea was exquisitely spiced with exiting exotic flavors, wish more foods had character like this while being friendly to the diet! The pictures are of the Ethiopian breakfast and California croissant, we also had some decadent yet light baklava and sambusa to-go as well! The drinks were an Ethiopian iced tea which was full of life and flavor without being sugary and a hot chai latte which was comfortingly sweet and spicy. It was a quiet cafe-ambience atmosphere with gorgeous lighting and cool location, perfect for brunch! The staff were all so nice and came to check in on us and inspire us with insight in their beautiful culture! We will be coming back 😋”

“The space is a beautiful renovation of classic residential home. I had the French toast special, which was only $10! I watched them make the sauce and it was incredible. Not many places in the Bay Area where you get this combination of price and quality. Iced coffee was solid too. Will 💯 return when I am back in the area.”

“This place is a gem! It’s located in an area that desperately needed a local coffee shop/ hang out spot. 5 stars because it is dog friendly! There is a seating area in the back that’s adorable to spend some time in. The espresso is rich and smooth and the little pastries they offer are always baked perfectly! My partner enjoys the empanadas and I like the vegetable quiche. Finally, a veggie quiche that isn’t entirely composed of onions, tomatoes or mushrooms! I enjoy that it is walking distance since no other coffee shops or breakfast spots seem to be this close. Obviously, the prices are a little high for the area, but rent isn’t cheap either. I can say you do get quality for your money though. Before this coffee shop, it was a liquor store that got quite a bit of business, but we have about 4 convenience stores within walking distance from this place so it’s not missed.”

“The most excellent oat milk chai ever! (5/5 Green Stars). This was a very brief visit while I waited for a friend to go for a walk around Piedmont Cemetery on a sunny Friday afternoon. What better way to spend a Friday afternoon? I’m so glad that I stopped in at the Ride Bar because it was a very pleasant experience. I asked for an oat milk chai and have to say that it’s probably the best chai that I’ve ever had – certainly top three. I think that it’s homemade since the mix was in a jug (rather than a package) in their fridge. It was actually the barista’s first time making a chai, so a great success all round. I also bought an apple and that’s also noteworthy: almost the only time I’ve ever bought a piece of fruit at a café. They coaxed me over to the healthy side with their cunning omission of pastries from the menu. Their main food offerings are fruit/granola bowls (yes, including acai) and oatmeal. They are focused on smoothies, but don’t ignore their killer chai. Nice counter spaces with Wi-Fi and power outlets and also some outdoor seating. I’m giving Ride Bar 5/5 “green stars” for social and environmental impact, based on the following: • Almost all plant-based. Vegans: just check for honey. • Almost all made from scratch (down to the nut butter). • Coffee from Highwire and tea from Blue Willow • The menu says “Organic and Woman Owned” at the top but it wasn’t clear which ingredients are organic (besides the oats which are listed as organic on the menu). Would be good to get some clarity on that as it’s a prominently displayed selling point. Giving the benefit of the doubt for now ;) • Woman-owned business. • Waste reduction: they have mason jars prominently displayed at the counter, on sale for $3 each. “Serves best tasting Peet's coffee in the East Bay. Very consistently good. I've been drinking Peet's for over 30 years so I think I know what I'm talking about. I drive from Oakland even though there are 2 Peet's within a 1/2 mile from my house. Fruitvale is good. Lakeshore they don't care what the coffee tastes like.”

“First time at this place and my husband and I enjoyed the coffee and food very much. While we waited they have free samples of the coffee and doughnuts. We ordered 2 lattes and it was delicious. The breakfast sandwich was tasty overall in terms of the bread which was toasted nicely, the egg and bacon was seasoned beautifully but when we asked for jalapenos it wasn't spicy at all but more for the crunch factor. If we are in the area, it's a nice spot for breakfast. highly recommend to Give it a try.”

“Come in to Timeless for pumpkin spice season!! Their pumpkin cheesecake is absolutely incredible and creamy and the pumpkin pie is very well made. Usually pumpkin spice lattes are much too sweet and taste artificial, but the one here is SO good. A thousand times better than Starbucks, one of the best pumpkin lattes I've had in my life. Right now for the season they're also selling a "spooky assortment" chocolate box, and the cafe is full of cute decorations. Also tried the double "twinkie". It was very sweet and dense, but it doesn't give that awful sugar rush typical of processed twinkies. The chocolates are pretty good too. I enjoyed that they sell electric kettles, brew grinders, filters, coffee press, glass dripper, mugs, tumblers, and chemex coffee makers.”

“I have only gotten bubble tea from here, so I can't speak about their food, but I've been pretty happy with the bubble teas I've gotten from here. Lately, I've only gotten the taro milk tea (which comes with boba), partly because it's one that I can ask for no sugar and can have non-dairy milk options (for 50 cents). (I think the Thai milk tea, for example, only comes with regular sugar or extra sugar, which I don't want. I'd want a less sugar option, but I guess whatever mix they have for the Thai milk tea is already pre-sweetened.) I like being able to order on the kiosks - usually makes it less likely for there to be a misunderstanding about what I want. You can also order through the Snackpass app if you have it. You can specify the sweetness level and ice level, too, which is nice. And they you get a text when your drink is ready. The last couple times, my drink was ready much earlier than it originally estimated, which was nice. There are only four "classic" milk teas that have the boba included, and these aren't priced too bad. The others don't include boba so you have to add it as an extra for 50 cents, and they're more expensive drinks to begin with, so those end up being rather pricey ... so I haven't gotten them. But the boba texture is almost always perfect and the drink flavors pretty good. So, it's not bad for when I'm in the area. But I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.”

“Cute location, stocked full of great coffee and accessories. The staff is super friendly, and helpful. I came here to pick up some whole bean coffee, a kettle, and filters all in one trip. I am happy with the purchase. I have also brought friends here and they seemed to really enjoy their drinks. I will return again.”

“Great meal deal on sausages. They come with sooo many toppings! The guy who runs it is kind and professional. There are also chips, cookies, candy and lots of other snacks here. Google says it's closed but I visited today and was open.”

“I recently enjoyed a return visit to Cafe Dejena with a friend after morning Mass across the street at Sacred Heart Church. As usual the eatery was inviting - it was clean and tidy and sparkled in the morning sun. The glass shelves were filled with all kinds of yummy baked goods that helped to whet the appetite. But my mind and tummy had already settled pancakes and bacon which arrived piping hot very soon after I had placed the order. The pancakes were just the way I liked them fluffy and covered with butter and I found the syrup just as enjoyable with just the right amount of maple sweetness. The bacon was flavorful, though the slices were rather thin for my taste buds. Nevertheless I washed it all down with a robust cup of coffee. In addition to such American food classics this place is known for its eastern African fare, which I will leave others to comment on.”

“After drinking their coffee from Whole Foods and seeing their coffee being used at Shake Shack, I thought it was finally time to check out Red Bay Coffee Roasters. We first went to their Roasting location, but it was closed for lunch. Luckily, the HQ is open during the Roasting location's lunch time and only a 4 minute drive away. Online, their charcoal latte seems to be their most popular drink. We ended up getting their charcoal latte and a Vietnamese Cold brew. I got to say, the charcoal latte was definitely unique. I expected it to be chalky, but it was pleasant and mellow. I would not suggest it if you're on a date since it will leave your tongue black for a bit. The Vietnamese cold brew was decent, but definitely not like a slow-drip viet coffee. The location itself is beautiful with many plants, unique gifts, and just an overall great ambiance. The neighborhood itself is littered with "San Francisco sand" (broken glass from cars). Definitely a place I would only visit during the daytime. Overall, a great experience and would come again!”

“A smaller Dunkin Donuts location with limited seating ( see photos), no drive thru and a congested (in my opinion) order section but on a good note it had a friendly staff! I personally prefer and larger seating area so you’re not on top of the next person but you can always get it to go!”

“Very well Maintained , and with a golf clubhouse and cafe. It has a mix of frisbee golf holes , some pretty straight forward , some from way above going down into a little cavern area . You get your hiking in while Playing this course :) it’s 9 holes unless you do it twice . The greens and the yellows. Regular golfers also use the course so it’s a neat mix of people . And it’s in Oakland ! Nice to see a diverse group of folks out playing :) watch for a bit of poison oak here and there .”

“What's there to say about a national coffee chain? Came during covid-19 mobile app payment is the only way to order. Once that's done you wait outside until worker set it down and walk away before you can get it. Coffee will always be around no matter what even in these challenging times. The two workers are phenomenal, they understand what people want and provide everyone with their fix and good service to start their day. My neighbor got me drip coffee before we head to farmers market, it kept me awake and upbeat for the duration while doing our routine. #montclair #nationalcoffeechain #mermaid #meteredparking #mobileapp #social-distancing #limitedservice #friendly #efficient #hotandfresh #wifi #takeout #minimalwaittime #enjoyyourcoffee”
