I called the shop 2 days ago regarding my 2011 prius a/c was making a big noise when the a/c is on. They told me on the phone just bring the car over and we will see what's the issue and give a estimate to fix it. They also say the inspection is free of charge.
I was there this morning and Gorge remembered my call. He spent 1 and half hour to do the full inspection. He told me, my car is fine and the loud noise is gone now. I was very surprised. Gorge told me, he just want to be honest with all his customers. He just doesn't want me to spend a couple thousand dollars to change the a/c compressor that is working fine. Also Gorge say the inspection is free of charge, and if the loud noise come up frequently in the future, then just bring the car in and he will check it again. Thank you, Gorge, for all your time and care, l appreciated your hardwork and honesty.

This was my very first time visiting M and N Auto Repair. I took my classic 1972 Mercedes 280 SEL 4.5 to George at M and N to have my brakes inspected and to have him look at the air conditioning that was not blowing cold. If you presently own or have had a classic car in the past, you know these are common problems that more often than not do not come without an easy solution due to parts availability, or lack of technician experience. So I didn't bring him an easy one! The first thing I noticed about the shop was just how clean and organized everything was. It seems lately that a lot of owner / operator auto repair facilities look pretty much like they're having a yard sale when you go out to the service bay areas. Not at M and N... Needless to say this made my comfort level go way up. I was also preparing myself to be told it would be thousands of dollars and no guarantees.. however I was very pleasantly surprised!! George was awesome! He was able to locate all the parts needed for the rear brakes on the car, and found them at a very reasonable price. He then spent hours scouring parts houses to find the correct fit and best value for what was needed on the front brakes, and showed me a couple of small clips that had become dislodged, and lent to the issues I was experiencing. He also determined that I did not need a complete front brake job, but with some clean up and new pads that would do the trick! He even gave me the info needed to get the new front brake parts in the future should I want to have them on hand due to limited availability. Then came the A/C, and I just assumed I was toast (Pardon the Pun)... I figured this issue had the potential to be an extremely expensive fix. George was able to trouble shoot the problem right there on the spot, and found that one of the small valves had what appeared to be a pinhole leak. He replaced the part, charged it accordingly, and that was it! No expensive fix, the A/C now blows blisteringly cold, and I could not be happier!
I think in the end with a classic car like this, a lot of shops may have the potential to throw you over the coals and maybe increase the invoice amount, or then try and upsell you on services not really needed. It was very clear to me that George does not operate that way... He is about honest work, fair prices and obviously long term relationships with his customers. Pretty rare these days.... I will definitely be back, and I would very highly recommend you check M an N out next time your car needs any service work performed! 5-STARS!!
George went above and beyond to help figure out what was wrong with my Fiat and walked me through the process of what he was doing and why. George even offered to teach me how to change my oil the next time I need it as there was an issue with a valve getting dirty so this would help prevent that in the future. In order to tell if my car was fixed I had to drive for a while as my check engine light was intermittent and not registering a code anymore. Because of this George called the next day to ensure the check engine light was still off. Overall, excellent car work and customer service!
brought my pickup truck to store in the morning (with a hurry), because dealership delayed brake replacement job for several days and it's already metal to metal. George help to diagnostic and replace rear brake before noon. very honest ,reliable and speedy service in Pleasanton neighborhood.
I was referred to speak to George at M&N Auto Repair by a friend. I took my Honda Pilot to several shops before this one and no one could tell me what was wrong with it. George found out exactly what the problem was! He was extremely reasonable with me on the pricing, and I was beyond satisfied with his work. I was so impressed; I ended up bringing two other cars over and even referred my girlfriend to bring her Mini Cooper over to him. He told me he has about 30 years of experience in the auto business, and it clearly shows. I live all the way in Pinole, and I'll tell you my drive was totally worth my while. It feels good to now know a reliable, trustworthy, honest mechanic. Thanks again George for all the help!
