Good wilderness, lonely trail. Don't forget to carry water and some light food. You will need it when climbing in the summer season, like we did it last week.
Gorgeous hike! Getting to the trailhead requires driving up a very narrow road and there is no actual parking, but you can fit one or two cars in the gravel without blocking the fire entrance. There are a lot of different species of trees which provide shade off and on throughout the hike. The trail is an old road making it wide and easy except where the cows have gotten stuck in the mud and left small craters everywhere. The views are gorgeous with a myriad of wildlife and the surrounding hills. The hike is a comfortable mix of up and down with no steep inclines. Near the top you can see Mission Peak and look down on the San Antonio Reservoir. The best part is not having to share the trail (with the exception of the cows of course). Only 4 stars for the amount of cow manure and hoof- sized potholes, as well as, the small herd of angry cows blocking the path.
