Just some trivia facts, when he was in High School, Tom Hanks went to church here, I wasn't here at the time. The high school group at this church had a HUGE impact on my life, what a great High School group it was. I got involved with VBS...Vacation Bible School at this church, and Urban Outreach. A beautiful church building. Gorgeous stained glass windows. The time I spent here was primarily high school-college years. Thank goodness I found this church, praise God for First Covenant Church.”

It has been a key part of West Oakland history, with St Martin de Porres school. It is a centrally Black Catholic church, with a growing Spanish speaking parish and overall multicultural flavor. “The teachers seem to really care about the kids. There is a large program, rooms for infants, 2s, 3s, 4s, and 5s. They have a good mix of pay time, stories and lessons, and structured activities. If you're in the full time program they are open almost year round with few breaks, so you can go to work. They are also open 7 to 6. If you are in the part time program they do close two weeks over Christmas and New year's. There are a few misc teacher in service days, cleaning days, and religious holidays they take off, not not bad vs other daycares. If you care about it, good or bad, that are a church so they teach the children about good and Jesus. Also, the food is not included in the cost, it's an extra $5 / day. However, snacks are included and I think breakfast if you drop them off early enough. They do have a microwave in the infants room to do warm food, everyone else is what you packed for lunch.”

Very welcoming to all genders, my parents have gone for years before they moved up state. It's not your grandparents church, yet has a great message every week.
