  We went there on a whim and it turned out to be one our best weekends. We were there for 3 hours in which we were able to complete one of the intermediate trails. The landscape transitions from forest to waterfall to mountain to streams in a beautiful way. The experience will be affected by the weather conditions as with any other place but you can't go wrong on a sunny day.
  
  You should bring comfortable shoes (it gets muddy in some places) enough water and some high energy snacks. There's big store in the park where you'll be able to buy most things you'd need incase you forget.

  A nature's bliss ! One of largest Redwood preserves in the state of California. The redwoods here are so big and from its sheer size it appears to be very old trees. Amazing hike and trail routes. Best for camping !!

  Such a beautiful spot in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The main part of the park near the ranger station has gotten extremely crowded, however, arrive early and then choose a not so well traveled trail and you can find solitude around every bend. We stayed at Little Basin rather than the main park and it was fantastic. Large campsites and lots of space.

  Big Basin is one of the nicer places to hike in the Bay Area for the fact that, even though many people visit, you still get the sense of tranquility as you hike. The most popular route to the waterfalls is about 6 hours round trip and well worth it. They have picnic tables throughout the parking lot and HQ. Will definitely plan to camp here soon. Also with all the rain here the waterfalls and streams are spectacular.

  What an amazing experience. We spent a couple hours at the park and wish we could have spent a couple days. The Red Woods are amazing. We picked an easy loop trail (great for 5 year old), it wasn't crowded and there was plenty of parking. $10 admission per vehicle. It is a Very winding road when coming in from the north
