Sierra South Mountain Sports

I chose Sierra South Mountain Sports for my birthday activity this year and had a blast with my group of friends!!! Super fun and dipping in the water felt so good in this heat!!! Our guide Ace was great and I appreciate her getting us through this and having a fun time. Thank you so much for this awesome adventure!!

I recently went on the 2-day Forks of the Kern rafting trip with Sierra South (June 21st and 22nd), and I honestly can’t remember the last time I had this much fun. If you’re thinking about a rafting adventure, this is the one.

The rapids are crazy. I have rafted on the Snake and Salmon rivers in Idaho and in a few places in California and these were by far the best rapids I've ever been on. Class IV and V—some of them were unbelievably huge, and yet somehow, the guides made even the most intense sections look easy. You can tell they love what they do, and that enthusiasm is contagious.

The camp for the night was right on the river in a beautiful spot and we were treated to really good food (even though we were in the middle of nowhere.) After going over a class five rapid, I swear everyone around camp was my best friend (even though some of them I might have just met the day before)

This trip was more than just a thrill, it was a crazy experience surrounded by nature, fun people, and expert guides. I can’t recommend it highly enough. If you want a trip you’ll be talking about for years, this is it.

It's one of those trips I will tell my kids about forever (and my kid was on the trip so he's going to get really tired of me telling the stories!)

My friend and I went on the 2 day lower kern overnight trip and it was amazing!
Our guides were Nate and Nyla and they were the absolute best. They took care of us from guiding on the river to preparing the best food to playing games with us.
We only had 5 in our group so it was small and intimate. Sierra South has their own private campground right on the river with a sandy beach, picnic tables with shade cover, sleeping platforms, sleeping pads, lounge chairs, games, gas fire pit, and outdoor kitchen. Best experience ever, had so much fun, perfect mix of adventure, adrenaline, and relaxation.

We had an absolutely unforgettable experience with Sierra South Mountain Sports on their Full Day Upper Kern white water rafting trip. From start to finish, the day was flawlessly organized and packed with excitement.

Our guide, Mitch, was outstanding—professional, knowledgeable, and a master at navigating the river. He struck the perfect balance between safety and adventure, keeping our group confident and engaged through every rapid. His expertise on the water and clear communication made even the most challenging sections of the river feel like an exhilarating team effort.

The Upper Kern offered nonstop action with rapid after rapid, and the full-day format gave us ample time to explore some of the best white water in California. The scenery was breathtaking, the water was fast and fun, and the adrenaline rush was exactly what we were hoping for. Breaks and lunch were well-timed and well-prepared, allowing us to recharge without losing momentum.

Sierra South runs a first-class operation—from the gear to the logistics to the river itself. If you’re looking for a full-day rafting experience that’s both thrilling and expertly managed, this is the one. And if you can, request Mitch—you’ll be glad you did.

An absolute blast! The Raft company was professional and the guides were so much fun! They have changing rooms and they also sell pretty much anything you’ll need to go rafting if you forgot River gear. No experience needed just be ready to get wet and have a good time. I took the short trip and it left me wanting to go again. I can’t say enough good things about this trip.
