Beautiful spot so close to the city. Had a lot of nice trails along the woods with varying range of difficulties.
Took my family of 9 camping for the weekend. We showed up with no reservations and the lady at front desk was amazing. She was just about to close for the night. She checked reservations to see if any one didn't make it. She gave us 2 sites.we thought since they were booked solid that we would get too loud for our neighbors or the other way around. But it was quiet and my kids enjoyed it so much. Thank you so much. It brought back memories from when my parents took me 17 yrs ago.
Really beautiful hike through the woods! We did the nature trail and learned a lot about the fault line that runs right through the Preserve. Easy, enjoyable hike with lots to see! And perfect for the summer because it was mostly shaded! The only bad part was the long and windy drive up there. It took a while to climb that hill in the car.
18 of us went on a Docent lead "earthquake" tour. Very interesting. There also is a very good self guided tour showing what the Sam Andreas Fault has done to the land.
We hiked the Earthquake Trail with a 3-month old baby. Easy trail with interesting stops to read about with the map or online info. Not stroller friendly so bring a front pack! Also some areas get marshy so wear shoes that can handle some moisture. Good amount of sun and shade so dress accordingly and consider some bug spray if it's buggy season. Big parking lot and there are other trails nearby for additional adventures!
