Love this place! Fun for hiking and exploring a little. There's a visitor's center but I've never actually been in there (from other reviews it seems to be pretty great). Definitely can be pretty hot so if it's a sunny day, bring water and sunscreen/hat. I took photos with a couple here one evening and loved how they turned out! A wonderful natural area with a lot of rocks! Great for climbing. You can bring your own gear or free hand climb the rocks. However come prepared for the weather. It's usually pretty hot or very cold depending on the season. Stay hydrated!
A stunning picturesque view of what mother nature can produce! There are several trails in all directions available to wander about to see more of the beauty. There is a small but educational museum/guide center next to the parking lot. (Usually plenty of space for parking) there is also porta potties near the trail beginnings and the Vasquez Rocks for your convenience. There are also educational signs as well as preservation signs indicating what you can bring in or take out.
You have seen these rocks and landscape in more movies and television shows than one may realize. That just makes Vasquez Rocks all that much more fun. Yes, fun! Aside from being uniquely beautiful, it is a great getaway - especially if you have kiddos or enjoy nature!
Beautiful scenery and definitely feels miles away from civilization. According to All Trails, it's a 2.9 mile hike but you can definitely extend for many more miles along the Pacific Crest Trail. Go by the visitor center first and check out the offerings (they have clean restrooms). They'll even offer you a trail guide to identify some of the plant life on the scene. The workers are knowledgeable and friendly. Bring water and watch out for horse manure. Feel free to climb the rocks!
