Peter Lai's Asian Village [By Appointment Only]

Peter is one of LA’s gems. Hearing him share his personal story and being guided through his space was so interesting. It was a great detour before dinner reservations. We called a couple of hours in advance and he was so accommodating and welcoming. He and his collection represent everything that makes LA great. He has art and fashion pieces that display the heritage of Japanese art and culture and others like the plastic food displays that hit Japanese American experience on the head. I hope to see his space replicated and pieces moved to the Japanese American History Museum one day!

A magic space curated by a amazing artist. Peter shares his life story with you through fashion, design and curios he has created and collected through a fascinating career of costume design, dance and theatre. Strange, surprising and wonderful.

Peter Lai's Japanese Cultural Village was magnificent !! I highly recommend people take the tour. It's honestly so worth it and Peter is such a sweet, humble man 🤗 it's really a gift that he is willing to share and talk about his antiques collection that we may not otherwise see. Thank you Peter!!
