Eagle Rock Dog Park

I love the eagle rock dog park the people and the dogs are all great. astro-turf grass that's made to self clean urination so it doesn't smell.around the astro-turf is dirt hills so the dogs overal get a good workout.

This dog park is really nice and the size is perfect for the area. Over my last few visits I've met a few people there and the crowd overall is normally very nice. Occasionally there are some doggy disputes but that's normal and good owners understand how to handle themselves.

Someone before mentioned parking. Yes, if you want to park 5 feet from the front gate you will need to deal with the street parking. Also there is homeless right off Fig but never been an issue while I was there. Otherwise if you dont mind a small walk to the dog area there is additional parking as the whole area is a park with various different areas for sports and outside rec events. You can park in the main area and avoid the danger of the side streets.

This is my new favorite dog park! Don't come here, it's all mine! Open sunrise to sunset everyday.

Design:
- urban center area with sidewalks, lots of seating, and astroturf with small hills and rocks
- maintained natural landscape with original trees and grasses on edges providing plenty of shade.
- Almost feels like a hike when walking the ridge, but lots of poop that hasn't been picked up.
- Potential for a dog to get very dirty while exploring.

Dog Amenities:
- only one water fountain but many water bowls you can fill and move elsewhere.
- no poop bags, just scoopers. Since the trash cans don't have lids, this means it smells awful near the trash with lots of flies.
- one shared area for all dog sizes

Parking: street parking right outside the dog park is very limited. There is an overflow parking dirt lot for Eagle Rock Recreation Center ACROSS Figueroa St, nestled between freeway ramps. The main parking lot is on the other side of the recreation center off Eagle Vista Dr.

Crowds: during the heat of the day in summer, it still wasn't empty. On a summer Tuesday night at sunset, extraordinarily crowded, almost claustrophobic.

Despite the crowds, limited parking, lack of poop bags, smells, and flies, still my new favorite dog park because the design is so cool! :)

Nice new park. Shady options. Large and small dogs in same area. Family friendly. Why do people get so uptight about what others do? It's nice to have a family friendly park as long as parents are aware it's a dog park first (ie if your kid gets knocked down it's on you, not the dogs)
