I've been attending this school for the past 3 and a half years, and it's a really great place to be. There are a lot of opportunities to discover what it is you like to do as an artist. This school is also great for athletes because when they miss school for meets or games, teachers give opportunities to make up missed work. Even though HArts is primarily known for the arts, grades are also very important; Show Kids are held to certain grade requirements to perform in shows. The small population is great because as a student you get to know everyone and have sort of a family bond.
Before Enrolling to this school, we were recommended by the Special Education Chair from our former Middle School to have our son enroll in this school because it's a smaller school within a big and long established High School. Our son has the advantage of smaller classroom sizes and more time with each instructor and a closer relationship with school staff.
Principal Fisher has many years experience in education and was originally at the well acclaimed C.A.M.S. California Academy of Math and Science on the campus of Cal State Dominguez Hills and is very committed to securing a bright future for our children.
Ms. Abrons , the school counselor is very well informed on the standards and current demands and requirements of college admittance and is also very committed and well involved with the development of their students on campus.
They have another element I found very refreshing and pleasantly surprising. A great member of the program is Mrs. Barrett. She is a On-campus Parent Representative that she describes herself as the "Mom" away from home . She's very enthusiastic and cooperative and has interest in our children's success and is on the ball.
All the staff on campus is great and work well and communicate with each other and are committed in seeing success in each student that attend HArts Academy.
Also, we had friends and other parents that had nothing but good things to say about HArts and that really made it an easy decision to make HArts Academy our choice of school.
The only thing they don't have is transportation services (bus) that we were so convieniently used to and made our schedules easier, but I made the sacrifice of picking up our son as it is much more worth the value we are getting from the smaller tighter community based school.
My daughter has excelled at this school. I truly believe the open communication between staff, teachers and parents sets this school apart and above the rest. I love that they are preparing my child for college work and a college, goal oriented mentality. I wouldn’t want this school to get much bigger as I feel it would lessen the sense of community. 😁
Amazing school love the teachers and staff and the classes. Many fun events. I am a freshman there and so far I love the school. Had the chance to move schools but decided to stay because I love this place and the teachers are so kind.
