Guitar Lessons By Drew

I've been taking lessons with Drew since March (~8 months) after unsuccessfully teaching myself guitar for a year. I came in with some very basic knowledge and Drew was great at meeting me where I left off. I've never felt like any concepts were too difficult after his explanations. He teaches you via songs you want to learn to play and picks out concepts from those songs that are appropriate for your skill level, which has been great in keeping up my motivation. Super chill experience and will help you see progress!

There is a reason why Drew has a 5 stars rating among his students and that is because he is an amazing guitar instructor. Not everybody who can play can teach, but Drew definitely can do both. He has plenty of exercises for you to build those foundations you need, while also having fun learning to play the songs you love, and he is very kind, humble and patient.

Being a complete beginner at guitar, my first thought was that I really needed to get in person classes. So, I did a month at a different place before I decided to give Drew's lessons a try. Drew has a way of explaining things which makes everything easy to understand. I had learned way more with Drew on my first online class than I did in that previous month with the in person guitar instructor. I have been taking lessons with Drew for about 6 months now and I'm really happy I switched for his lessons.

I came to Drew with some scattered guitar knowledge and he really helped me connect the dots and bring my playing to an intermediate level! He was extremely patient and has a great approach to teaching. In my first few lessons with Drew I already started noticing progress and a change in the way I think about playing guitar. He teaches you the foundations of music theory through the guitar in a way that enables you to understand and explore the instrument to your full potential. He also heavily takes into account the type of music you’re interested in playing and gears his lessons towards that. Drew is a phenomenal guitar teacher who's passion not only includes music itself but extends to his ability to each others to progress in their own music journey. Unlike many other guitar instructors that can be found online, Drew's curriculum does not include teaching, quick ephemeral lessons which don't allow for progression. Rather, is lessons aim to shape the foundation that you use to play guitar, or progress in certain areas. My own experience in music, is that I taught myself guitar at the age of 14 and never truly progressed from there. No matter how much memorization/ theory/ songs that I learned. Drew really was able to create a framework that I could work with to improve my skills not only within a 1 hr lesson but still do this day.

I am very happy with my progress on the guitar from studying with Drew. I had no guitar experience prior to our lessons and now am writing songs and having a ton of fun playing. Drew knows how to teach the big picture understanding of the instrument as well as how to smooth out any detailed technical issues. Everything in the lessons are super clear. He always tailors the lesson to my personal goals, but than he also shows me concepts that I didn’t realize are very important to playing the guitar. I’m really stoked on how fast I’m progressing. Although I came to Drew as a beginner, I know he can teach all levels and genres of music. I highly recommend taking guitar lessons with Drew for any guitar player!
