I stayed at Aura AfterCare for a double mastectomy. I was there for a few days. I am no stranger to nursing care and hospitals. After looking at their reviews here I was a little nervous, but I feel compelled to report that I never had such amazing after care in my life.
My experience at Aura was exceptional not just good. Tatiana, Joanna, Alyssa, Cheyenne, Jen, Marina and I'm probably forgetting a couple-- were all superb. I have no idea who the chef was, but thank you also.
The care was much better than over 20 other medical stays I have had throughout my life. To begin you have 1 - 1.5 private nurses to each patient. Each unit is only three patients. This makes for high level of care. While there I did have a medical issue that needed attention they all worked hard to help resolve the issue fast. There just is no way to really quantify that. It's words on a screen to the reader but if you are a patient than you understand. Healing can hurt. These people are lovely.
The room was well appointed. I had a queen bed with lovely linens. Facts-- I probably would have slept well on a rock given my state, but this bed and the linens felt like I was a guest in someone's home. Of course I managed to spill my amazing smoothie all over them on day one!
I also utilized the hyperbaric chamber a couple times during my stay. Highly recommend this. There is a reason elite athletes sleep in these. The process was smooth and Tatiana really explained what to expect. I'm normally a little claustrophobic, but there is a large window. Give it a try.
Additionally the staff were exceptional with my guests. Having family and friends around during recovery is really important and the entire staff were lovely at accommodating them as well. Also the rooms are plenty big enough for multiple people.
Honestly, I don't have a negative sentiment about my experience. Perhaps they are replacing some carpet soon? This was just exceptional all the way around. I had drains post surgery and drains are-- not exactly fun. They were again attentive and made sure I left able to handle what I needed to.
I would definitely stay here again. In fact one of my guests is planning a surgery and will be staying at Aura AfterCare.
Thank you to the group for all the support. So sorry if I forgot someone's name.
I’m just finishing up three nights at Aura and I can’t imagine recovering any other way. The first few days post-op for me are always rough, but everyone was so supportive and made sure I got the care I needed. I would definitely recommend Aura to others who want that extra support right after surgery.
I’ll try to make this as short as possible however when it comes to your well-being selecting ‘surgery aftercare’ is extremely important. You should have the all the facts and stay with a compassionate facility. I’ve read some of the negative comments, I don’t disagree for the most part because I too had a bad experience with my first stay and vowed I would never return, didn’t bother complaining, I walked out with the mindset of never returning, didn’t even want to waste my time writing a bad review. What changed? Keep reading it’s important…This time I’m writing a review because it’s my second time staying at Aura and I’m beyond shocked with the 360 turn around in their professionalism and compassion I received. It makes sense as to why Aura has positive reviews as well, there are bad apples everywhere, no one or place is perfect. I learned Aura doesn’t stand by bad behavior from their staff, they do not tolerate it and given the opportunity they make it right by you. I almost didn’t give them a second chance but I’m glad I did! Everyone, every business deserves a chance to correct the wrong doings of their employees. No one’s perfect therefore experiences can be different but one thing I learned Aura cares and tries their hardest to do something about it but keep in mind even patients are not alike (pleasant or nasty) If something isn’t to your liking speak up they try their hardest to accommodate and make it right for you. I was forced to voice my bad experience because of surgery #2 (glad I did) and my amazing very skilled doctor, Dr Payam Jarrah-Nejad AKA Dr J contacted Cindy the manager at Aura Aftercare. She in returned immediately reached out patiently listened, she was very professional, compassionate, and super apologetic. She offered me a discount in good faith to give them the opportunity to change my experience, that showed me she cared; actions speak louder than words (No, the discount didn’t change my mind, her compassion did! If I could afford the surgeries... It’s the principal foundation that showed me she cared actions speak louder than words. I didn’t accept, I needed time to think about it because facility care you choose is important and she waited patiently almost 2 months) Everyone was great, my main nurse Yana was beyond amazing, she was patient, energetic, always had a smile on her face, responded quickly, compassionate and very professional but at the same time Yana made me feel I had a friend by me not a formal nurse, and she listened to me, to my needs. Her people skills and medical background is a win, win for Aura and to the patients! It wasn’t just Yana but it was also the two night nurses that were awesome didn’t get to interact as much because I slept but they were very attentive. The level of service I received made me take the time to write this review in the hopes that I can help other patients receive this excellent care I received. As Cindy said to me not to long ago “Give us a chance to make it right”. She delivered on her promise! Give Aura a chance and experience yourself and if your having a bad situation ask for Cindy immediately, she is on top of it! Don’t miss out on a great care you can receive at Aura because of one bad experience. There are bad apples everywhere, you can easily run into them at other facilities as well. Give them a chance, I’m glad I did! Ask for Cindy
I am so grateful to the staff of Aura AfterCare especially my nurse 'Cat'. I would not have made it through the first night if not for Cat's exceptional clinical skill and bedside manner. I always felt safe and comfortable with her on watch. Thank you Cat and everyone else who helped with my after surgical care!
