Access to Buckhorn camp is currently closed, but if you still want to do the Cooper canyon hike you can park here and walk a little down CA-2 and through the campground to access the trail.
If you don't want to hike there are a couple of picnic tables where you can hang out and take in your surroundings.
Literally one of the most gorgeous and enjoyable hikes I've been on here in .CA. obviously all Cali hikes are beautiful, but the views up there are just unbelievable at Mount Waterman. I was immediately regretting not bringing my phone to take pictures, but at the same time it felt so good to be immersed in nature like that. At the top of the summit, there are really cool Boulders as well. It's really fun to check things out of there and just appreciate the beauty of our home. Highly recommend!
Beauty always.
Perfect in the winter for a couple hours of snow play. High enough for snow. And not too crowded. Parking is available.
This is pay by day campground. The entry is narrow and think that your car may not but IT WILL. It has if I can remember about 40 camgrounds and metal food lockers for keepsake ftom BEARS. It has a creek, big old hallow trees and trails.
