  I grew up 2 blocks away near 5th st. and Lazard st. in San Fernando, Ca. I played on this plot of land in the late 50's and early 60's. It was used by the City of San Fernando as part of their water system. If you go there or look at it on Google Maps you can see the old water tanks. San Fernando had water wells throughout Sylmar. Especially the corner of Sayre and Borden. Where people could come from allover and bring their 5 gallon glass bottles and fill them for free at a 4 sided cinder block water station. People from allover LA came for San Fernando's great tasting free water. A lot of older people especially. They would park their cars and trucks and get out their bottles and fill em up. I walked right by them in 68-69-70 and 71 walking home from Sylmar High School. Also, if you look at the N/E corner of Hubbard St. and Dronfield Ave. You will see whats called a Tank Farm and they are mostly underground tanks with only 7 or 8 feet above ground and 4 or 5 times that much underground. And this is also the City of San Fernando's Water System. I only brought all this up because several of you have said the Rudy Ortega Park is in the middle of Sylmar when it's in San Fernando and is run and maintained by the City of by birth, San Fernando, Ca.

  A unique little oasis in the middle of busy Sylmar. It was nice to just sit and relax in this park.

  I had never been to this park but it was really nice. I took my dog to walk around and she had fun. It's very clean and peaceful.
