I had a nagging knee issue. Ortho was no help. Tried SCOI, didn't care for the service or attention I was getting. My issue wasn't TERRIBLE, it was just getting in the way of my running routine. I called Matt and talked it out with him, and scheduled a time to go in for a treatment. He was able to diagnose and prescribe PT for me. Added bonus, he has checked in several times via text to encourage me and make sure I am feeling improvements. Needless to say, I'm back to running and my knee feels great. I really like the special attention and care that he gave to my issue.
Chris is an amazing strength coach. He has a really good eye for detail and form. He has a perfect balance between pushing you to try harder and being safe with your training.
I've been going to EP for the last month or so to treat my steadily-increasing lower back pain which has been developing over the last few years. I've been seeing Matt for about an hour or so once a week for the last 5 or 6 weeks and I've already seen a dramatic decrease in my back pain, so much so that I've been thinking about getting active again now that stuff doesn't hurt so much!
Matt's great to work with; he takes the time to listen to what specifically hurts and how it hurts, describes what is (or what MIGHT be) happening and then develops treatment and an exercise plan that actually helps. Matt really knows what he's doing, I highly recommend him!
I considered myself to be fairly athletic and in decent shape before hurting my back. I would run 2-3 times a week and workout up to 5 times a week. I had run multiple races in the years leading up to my injury. But
I herniated a disc in my lower back approximately two years ago doing deadlifts. The pain was intense in my lower back and radiated down to my glutes and hamstrings, which pretty much stopped me from being able to workout and run. Over the past couple of years before working with Matt I had tried all types of treatment including Chiropractor, Acupuncture, Massage Therapy, Epidural Steroid shots, and Physical Therapy at two different locations. My doctor flat out told me that I would not be able to run again. He suggested taking up swimming or bike riding. This was pretty discouraging to say the least.
When I met with Matt the first time, I could tell that he wouldn't accept the doctor's advice that I was done running. Matt began my treatment attacking the pain first with a combination of stretching, massaging, and light exercises to strengthen the core. Matt was very knowledgeable and came up with a plan for my recovery. As the sessions passed, he would push me harder and harder and I was beginning to see that I could do more and more without the radiating pain I had prior. He watched me run on a treadmill and immediately saw a big problem in the way I ran. By tweaking my running style, combined with stretching and exercises, I was able to run without putting as much pressure on my spine/discs. After training with the new running style I was able to run a 5K on the 4th of July at a 8:45 pace! For not having ran 3 miles straight in the past 2 years, I was beyond excited!
I would highly recommend Matt! He is very friendly, knowledgeable, and isn't afraid to push you to your limit without overdoing it. Very happy and thankful for my time with Matt!
