This Madera Amtrak station is a nice little station and it’s never too busy. In the evening, it’s very well lit but the only problem is they have no vending machines or a speaker to announce the arrivals, the departures and the late running lines. So, because of that, you need to be sure you are keeping an eye on the digital screens if you want to stay updated on the latest information.
I travel out of Madera station a couple times a month and I like that it's very well lit and it has cameras in case I have to leave my car overnight. It's never crowded and the train attendant is always very helpful. I always bring my electric bike and there is plenty of room. Your not sitting on a stranger's lap like Greyhound.
Often too many times we are quick to point out the bad experiences we have regarding services or the expectation of services we receive as patrons, or customers. As consumers we realize there are many other places in which are eager to take our money...Amtrak being no different. We have other options when choosing our travel means..eg: greyhound, airlines, rental cars etc.
Im hoping this little note makes it way to the conductor and engineer of Amtrak 703 in which i traveled 1-11-2018..... I want you to know what a great trip i had. You were prompt, courteous, professional, friendly, and informative. I am a frequent passenger of the Amtrak and have many, many times experienced unusually lste arrivals and departures, what appeared to be either a tired or burned out conductor and an engineer that offered little to no information as to why we stalled in the middle of nowhere on the tracks for several minutes to hours awaiting who knows what or why the train is late period. Often annoyed by our questions as to what the delay was or is. I dont expect right on time arrivals as im aware there are many circumstances that cannot be avoided. However an explanation as to why is often all we require.
My trip on 1-11-18 wad awesome. We did not arrive right on time as our tickets indicated as our arrival time, but damn close! The engineer was prompt in his stops and quick to explain why we were sitting just minutes away from a scheduled stop. In an instant myself and other passengers went from "whats going on" with annoyance, to "oh, okay" the satisfied relief of knowing what was going on.
So to get to my point, I just wanna say what a great job the crew (engineer and conductor) did. Best trip ive ever had on my more than 70 to 80 trips aboard Amtrak. You guys rock and are the standard of what a well trained, down to business crew should be on our federally funded railways should be! Keep up the great work and i hope to have the pleasure of riding with you again! You ROCK!
I have been using Amtrak Madera every week for 8 years. I was on the train that broke the ceremonial ribbon about 3 or 4 years ago. It was a GREAT day when this new station replaced the old, old one! I do what I can to help keep this place in shape.
