“Cherie is a great instructor. Before I started lessons with her I was trying to teach myself and found that I’d hit a wall, just wasn’t getting where I wanted to be, she helped me out of that rut. She opened up my options by laying down the basics, then expanded my palette based on where I wanted to go with songs and guitar. She likes to balance what she calls the weigh-lifting of guitar and the fun stuff - exercises and songs. I never felt bored or very frustrated. She pays attention. I really felt she was teaching me what I needed to learn. She also teaches singing lessons and we worked a bit on my vocals during our guitar lessons. Was a nice add-on. She’s a pro and very easy to work with.”

“Daryl is so awesome at teaching guitar! His enthusiasm when you hit the right note or chord makes you want to keep going. They say time flies when you're having fun and my time sitting there learning guitar is gone in the blink of an eye. Daryl takes the time to learn what you want to learn so he can tailor the lessons to you. Highly recommend!”

“I've had two kids here, and it's been an overall excellent experience. Lots of hands on, PBL and teacher:student ratio is small, which has been great for my family. The teachers are more than accomodating and are always willing to take in parent input if something's not working. Also, this school does do TK.”

“I was there 19 years ago. Moved before Junior Year. I could use a refresher but I turned out okay. Beautiful campus, just in case you're hunting for high schools based on the aesthetics.”

“Today was the start of Year 5 with San Ramon. After a horrific first year and a continued bumpy road throughout year 2, I started contacting other schools (I had worked with the district but felt very put off and almost insulted with the lack of responsive or support from all levels of the district so-called "process" to remedy anything from staff name calling students over matters they had nothing to do with in terms of control and complete dismissal of any concern, despite the approach, to areas ranging from bullying to failure to disclose the truth regarding additional "help". I am still baffled that they felt putting a child who fell behind in writing in a small group of Spanish speakers only and it wasn't until a parent visit I struggled to ascertain that I learned my child who should have been focused on writing her language was still coloring in her A,B & C's). However, things changed from night to day after the changes were made in the front office. I appreciate the effort of anyone willing to teach and work with kids but don't stick around for the paycheck if you loathe the little ones and actually get to the point you tell them. The new administration is so supportive and instead of emails or calls going unanswered ...they are always responded to in a timely fashion. I don't always get an email back but asking for 5 minutes to discuss something has worked for me. (Addressing the other commenters frustration with current admin as I only think we all benefit from a positive experience and definitely know how it feels to be unhappy with my decision to send my child to a school I know and she knows is not leaving anyone happy. The staff is great too. They get busy, but I respect that and do my best to only ask for help when I really need it. And of course, the teachers have been phenomenal and some have changed and leaderships new hire's are simply wonderful. The district office has even become more responsive with its newly placed external points of contact for parent's. They listen, support the staff at the school level and I think that is also a positive change. In closing, my favorite part is having a school community where each child is treated fairly and expectations of each student are the same and there is no longer a heirarchy or different rules for different families. For example, while I was at first annoyed with the change from no cupcakes for school birthdays, I saw why - not all parents can bring them in, not all parents can afford or do these things for their children so you could have two children with identical bfast but only one has a parent show up with treats while the kids incessantly inquire (they are curious about everything in their earlier years and one can hope it continues but with some tact and understanding later on) why the other Birthday child didn't bring anything and "it is their turn to have brought cake or treats" and then get Happy Birthday son with some kid saying but not so and so ..."They didn't bring anything so they suck!" Now talk about a great way to rock a kid who already has a tough time and they get blamed because their parent couldn't bring in the traditional cupcakes. I applaud the new administration for making tough calls. I applaud our PTA for their dedication and commitment both past, present and future. And I applaud the auxiliary staff that make the wheels turn like our library Aid (schools don't get librarians like they used to but we have a library that is led by a committed and enthusiastic overseer and has kept the library open for the kids!) Lastly, I applaud the parents who are able to donate time and resources for class time and field trips and even serve as great role models, create extensions to the school with positive organizations that also have adapted the no one will be turned away policy. Together this has in addition to the efforts of the staff to create a definitive cultural shift to a very welcoming, family-orientated, and great school. This is just one opinion from a parent who has increased the star rating from 1 to 5 in 5 years..”
