Calvo Studio Art Classes

I have been taking art classes with Maria Carmen del Calvo for almost two years now. As someone who started painting late in life, I was more than a little nervous about starting, even though it's something I've always wanted to do. Mary Carmen is extremely talented and has had an illustrious career but I haven't once felt intimidated in her presence. Her warmth and encouragement suffuses the entire studio and even when I'm completely frustrated by my work, she is unfailingly positive. Her classes are fun and challenging and she constantly surprises us with beautiful still life compositions, photographs, works of famous artists, and even interesting live elements. Mary Carmen is the quintessential artist. Every bit of the art class experience, from her studio which is filled with beautiful works of art, her lovely home and locally famous gardens, and even the uniquely garnished drinks and european treats she brings her students reveals that Mary Carmen lives and breathes creativity and a unique joie du vivre. I can't recommend her highly enough. If you want to learn to paint, this is your teacher!

Painting at Calvo Studio has been an incredible experience. I started as a total beginning oil painter and now I'm displaying my art in my home and have produced art for sale. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced painter, you will learn technique, theory, and produce works of art with shimmering color.

I just took my first Art Lesson and am so impressed with her teaching. She made something that could have been very intimidating very effortless and I am really looking forward to continuing.
