  Beautiful path to walk, or bike. Lots of wild flowers seen along the path even in the winter. There are swamps where birds can be watched and preserved. There is a low hill at the beginning of the path, most of the rest is flat level. The mud smell is not too pleasant but it means we have been out ! The birds songs just are beautiful. A few of those big birds kept flying above my head.

  This is not a hiking area. It's just a view point on a paved bike/run/car path. But it's a nice spot to start a run from.

Back Bay Loop Trail - Sunset Magazine

The 10.5-mile loop circles Upper Newport Bay. There are multiple entry points, but we recommend starting at the Vista Point Lookout for the best views. Walk along the bluffs; when you reach Big Canyon, detour off the main path and cross the footbridge.
