  The best customer experience! I ordered a pair of Cetma Mantra fins, which are carbon fins. Carbon fins are a pricey investment, so you want to be sure about your fin selection. The shop (Eric) called to make sure I selected the correct softness level. They noticed I ordered the smallest foot pockets and called to confirm I intended to select the soft fins rather than the extra soft. I am very petite and so, they advised me to get the extra soft since I am less than 100 lbs. To make that connection (looking at the foot pockets, to deduce my weight/frame and then to go out of their way to give me a call and advise me on the ideal softness level for the fins) was super attentive and thoughtful. When I asked about their experience with the fins, they weren't trying to make another sale but super transparent about the pros and cons to help me make the best decision that would work best for me. Despite being located in New York/east coast, this is my go-to local dive shop and I will definitely be coming back for my future freediving purchases.

  I just finished up my PADI open water certification with one of Lost Winds’ instructors, Matteo. Despite this being something I’ve always wanted to do, I was really anxious and didn’t anticipate how scared I’d be. He was so patient and wonderful as I struggled through some aspects early on. He’s certified well over 500 people. And his experience and knowledge was such a reassurance. If you’re feeling a little uneasy like I was, he’s your guy. I went from crying in the pool (lol) to finishing my last open water dives completely forgetting that I was ever afraid. I. Love. It.
  
  We found Lost Winds after having signed up for scuba certification with another company, who took our payment, informed us the dates all the dives were scheduled, and then cancelled on us last minute. Leaving us scrambling to get me certified before I left for my 1st ever diving trip (internationally to boot) in less than 2 weeks. It couldn’t be pushed out. We were stressed. Lost Winds was awesome, and basically was like let’s get you certified and we’ll sort out everything on the backend. I was fully certified before we’d paid them a cent for the course/rentals/etc. Matteo was super flexible and worked around our schedule. I think it’s cause he really loves this stuff that much, that he wants to share the experience with everyone. I’m so thankful of how accommodating he was.
  
  The overall experience with Lost Winds was such a treat. The guys at the shop got me all kitted out. While finishing up a dive in Catalina with Matteo during my course, we happened to run into Eric, the owner, who invited us to join him for a meal. Then refused any attempt from my husband and I to help pay. Such a nice guy. And a great diver himself, with some cool stories.
  
  A long winded review, I know. But I’m glad things didn’t work out with that first scuba shop, because it brought us to Lost Winds. And it was such a wonderful experience working with them. I am so appreciative that fulfilling my lifelong dream of “doing scuba” was made possible by such a great group of humans. Thanks boys!

  I recently met Eric Martin through a mutual friend who works at Riffe and discovered his store the Lost Winds Dive Shop. I got my dive light and game bag from Eric. He is super knowledgeable and helped me understand which one to get and why. I took my spear gun to him and he gave it a tune up and my friend bought a euro from him and some fins. I have learned a lot from Eric by hanging out at his shop and asking questions. I look forward to taking a dive class from him this spring. The San Clemente store is super sick.

  This place has a great selection of stuff for freediving and spearfishing. Cory and Nathan have always been super helpful, showing and explaining to us the items they have and then giving us clear directions on the use and care of the (many) items we've bought!

  Just got myself set up with my initial bcd, regulators, tanks, fins, mask for scuba diving. Eric the owner is great. Customer service and affability is off the charts. This place has everything you need for scuba and spear fishing or lobster diving. I got lucky and took advantage of the 20% off for Black Friday event they had going. Eric is a Legit diver so he knows his stuff. Great selection, especially considering the supply chain issues. They do tank refills here as well. You can get a 10 fill card for $50. Prices were great overall as well. Shop local you’ll be stoked.
