I’m a corpsmember that was residing here from October 2022 up until April 23 when I left for backcountry. the staff misplaced a package but I was able to get a refund. They immediately sent over my PLCs when I called them and emailed about it.
A quality institution. I enjoyed my time there. Seems like the rebuild went well. I hope the cell service has improved though!
It was a great place to learn some new things and met some new people made some good friendships give young people the chance to be a part of something that means something
OK, the facilities and displays are old and tired but still interesting for kids. But their regular events like nature walks with a docent are really perfect for a Saturday morning with the kids. Not good for strollers or toddlers, but 6+yrs old can walk the trail no problem. It's funded by donations and volunteers so you can't expect the London National History Museum, but kids and adults can learn from the naturalists.
This is an amazing place that offers a wide variety of volunteer supported environmental education programs to the community. My first visit here was a surprise date to a class on the basics of telescope use. I had a small telescope when I was a kid but never really educated myself on how to use it properly. During the course of the night I leaned many new things. After the initial instruction we went outside and used several different sizes and styles of telescope to look at the Moon, Jupiter, and and a few constellations. In the coming months I am going to attend several more events here.
