J&G has been my LGS for the last several months. In that time I have taken three firearms to them for cleaning and appraisal. In each case I was more than satisfied with the work they did. They cleaned and repaired a Remington 700 back to firing condition. I also purchased a handgun from them; the transaction was seamless. I highly recommend their gunsmithing services, even if it's just a deep clean.
J&G are definitely on the pricier side, but it's been worth it to me. When other places were out of the ammo I wanted, J&G had some on hand. When I wanted a Glock, they had one. They're a little out of the way, and a decent drive for me, but every trip has been worth it. They also have a small but decent selection of new handguns for sale, in addition to consignment sales. However, if you want a long arm, this is definitely your shop.
All in all, every one is going to have their opinion, but for me it's been worth it to support a local business and gun shop to boot.
