I have Legacy Assisted Living a 4.5 star rating only because it's in a slightly older facility.
The Manager "K" (name shortened for my review) is spectacular!
The few things I've asked for help with are resolved immediately!
The staff is kind and even loving from what I've seen at every visit.
I wouldn't hesitate to utilize Core Healthcare (the parent company) in the future.
I have had my mother in assisted living for 2 years. My mother has Alzheimer's dementia. My mom has been to several places and there has been many good reasons for her to have been removed by me at these places. It is very hard to find a place that is what is what it says it is. Safety and loving environment have been my most important concerns. The place my mom was previous to this one I saw red flags but ignored them cause I saw caring people and a beautifully manicured lawn, and I communicated several times a week with the manager and the staff. I loved the place because of the big room she had and well I was happy until all those red flags showed up on one day and I had to accept it was time to leave. The food there wasn't good, the place never permitted the people to have their own toilet paper and the staff wasn't treating her well at night time. Most of all I was being lied to.
Christmas cottage was an option mentioned to me by my moms hospice nurse and well I looked at the place to decide if it was a right place. It wasn't beautiful. No lawn. She would not have a large room. She would not have a private shower in her room.
What I found was employees that had been there for 12 years, I found the food was homey, the kitchen is where my moms room is near and it feels even more homey because of it. The living space where people gather is active which is a plus . I know it doesn't sound like it, but it's easy to isolate and get depressed in complete silence, and not activity. My mom has been at Christmas cottage since August of 2022 and it was the best decision I could have made. My moms health has improved and so has here cognition. She is not drugged like she was at the previous place. My mom is a wanderer at night and the staff is very patient with her. Her room is kept clean and she is always dressed nicely. I understand what I want for my mom and I understand that includes me participating in her life by visiting. I never see other people visiting, so when I read these complaints I have to ask, do you stay longer than a moment? Do you take your loved one outside and sit in the sunshine with them? Cause there is a large out door space to do that and they actually do activities there.
There will be times in all these places where the staff leave but, in all these places one thing should stay constant is your visiting and communication with both the staff and the administration.
I recommend this place.
I'm not sure where all the bad reviews are coming from. My mother in law was brought to the Christmas Cottages, now called Legacy of Hemet, in a combative state of mind. She was rude, accusatory and a habitual 911 caller. When she arrived in her combative state, the staff was there to greet her. Within the first hour, she was calm. She loved the staff who were basically doting over her. They washed her bedding and made the bed. They immediately hung all her clothing and brought her homemade Mexican food (her favorite). So far I am in love with this place. My mother in law is happy and content for the first time in a long time. I promptly shared the news with family member far and near. We are ALL over joyed. Maybe this place isn't for everyone, as ii found out when my M in L came from a very nice place, but simply wasn't her cup of tea. Unfortunately, not every place is the best fit for your loved one as I am learning. We think we are making the right decision, but it doesn't always work out. I wish everyone the best in search of their loved ones perfect place. I think we found ours.
We have been very pleased with the care my aunt has received since moving to Christmas Cottage almost 2 months ago. The staff is very responsive and caring. Before our recent visit to her, the staff even curled her hair. Her room is very clean and there is no "nursing home odor". She comments to us frequently about how nice the staff is. This is not a new, modern facility with all the bells and whistles but we are very pleased and she is very happy.
