(October 5, 2022, 9:35 am)The lookout is permanently closed due to its loss during the September 2022 Fairview Fire. Hopefully, a replacement to the lookout will be constructed. The road in is 9 miles of one lane, rough dirt and rock. Not recommended for Mom vans or sports cars. SUV pick up other high center vehicles should be ok if the rains don't gully the road. Great views clear to the ocean. No guns allowed.

(September 9, 2022, 5:59 pm)Very sad to report the loss of the Red Mountain Lookout Tower to the Hemet Fairview Fire Sept 8, 2022. There were no injuries to personnel as it was evacuated prior. It had stood in this location since constructed in 1937.
